Welcome to Our First Grade Gallery!
By first grade, most children have developed a collection of symbols for objects in their environment such as a person, house, or tree. These symbols are highly individualized since they are the result of personal development. Children's symbols are unique and represent conceptual understanding rather than direct observation of their world.
Projects will last one to two class periods and will introduce the students to using shape, line, color, and texture in their work. Our young artists are also introduced to a variety of media, artists, art styles, and art forms through both traditional artistic techniques as well as through the incorporation of songs, literature, interactive technology, fun, and experimentation.
